TIME IS MONEY : STOP TRADING TIME FOR MONEY !!
We both hopped out of the bus. My house was 3 km away , and his 1.5 km . I thought of taking a bus , but my friend said lets go by walking.
I agreed, I didn’t said NO ,as I didn’t knew the importance of saying NO!!
We tip toed till his house, and I boarded the bus from there and went home. That day I realized , how time gets traded for money.
After reading plethora of books, I knew that time is money. But that day, I identified that I too trade time .
Let’s dig in.
WHY TIME IS MONEY??
When you waste time , you waste money!! Let me prove it to you ..
Wasted Time ==> invest it in in working on goals, spending time with family, reviewing your life, thinking and reflecting ==> leads to better decisions and results ==> you become proficient in some skill/you achieve your goals ==> You become more confident, fearless and your skills improve ==> Your skills are in demand/outstanding results from your goals , and ==> you gain money.
HENCE TIME IS MONEY!!
DOES IT MAKE SENSE ?
It should make sense .Think about it !!
Every day , whatever be the amount of time you waste , you drain out opportunities to build wealth. You miss out time to bolster your skills.
By wealth , I not only mean financial wealth, I mean your mental and spiritual wealth.
HOW TIME IS TRADED IS FOR MONEY?
Remember the intro. My friend decided to walk those 1.5 km ,although it was raining !! He didn’t wanted to demolish his ₹5 !!
For him , his ₹5 were more valuable than time. This is the mindset of people who don’t value their time.
Another friend of mine(lets say his name is Fefe) hummed something , which is a perfect example of how people trade time for money.
Fefe said to me that during his school days, he used to walk 5 kms from his Home to School. And he also wandered the same length from school to home.
He thinks that he has saved money. But as I said , he wasted time and hence wasted money. He wasted more money than he could save.
He exclaimed me saying that he did this to save money. But he is not poor. I see him everyday in college wasting around ₹100 in fast foods.
The truth is , he didn’t knew the importance of time. I used to also waste time just for saving slew of penny.
But as I thought more and observed myself and others, I realized that time is so precious.
The next time you try to trade time for money , remember that you are wasting chance to build your wealth. Take action, spend some money, but don’t spend time for money.
You will not be able to buy time, once time gets wasted , it won’t come back. Money can come back. Remember this always.
HOW WILL YOU REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME?
I think the reason I used to trade time for money because I had no goals in my life.
I was plunging to mediocrity, getting kicked in the ass by ‘LIFE’ as I had no plans for my future. I was breathing an aimless life.
NO GOALS. NO PURPOSE. NO PLANS !!
And what I have examined is that the people who waste time either are the ones who live a life which is devoid of goals, or their parents are fucking rich!!
If your parents aren’t fucking rich , then you need to worry !!
People having no goals give a fuck to things which have no value. They are attracted to random shit.
Hence if you are like these pole , DO SOMETHING,
Make some plans for your life. Think what you want to become, if you have no idea, seek out opportunities .
In today’s epoch , there are plethora of chances to try out.
BBUT I WASTE ONLY ‘SOME TIME’ BY TRADING IT FOR MONEY
Now, Fefe said that , he did this vagabonding for 5 years. Can you imagine how much time he wasted. Lets calculate…
ONE YEAR HAS 365 DAYS, OUT OF WHICH 96 DAYS ARE WEEKENDS, 20 DAYS ARE FESTIVALS(IN INDIA),60 DAYS ARE SUMMER + WINTER HOLIDAYS .
Lets assume he took 20 min to reach school.
365-(96+20+60+10)=179 days he went to school.
179 multiplied by 40 min= 119. 3 hours !!
This is called compounding. Each day he wasted 40 min, but after 179 days , this became 119 hours.
Think , how much time you waste every day!! It might look trivial, but if you waste 40 min every day , for past 10 years you have wasted 101 days !!!
And if these 10 years are during your years from 17 – 27 years , just ponder the value of these 101 days which can effect your career and life.
BBBUT, ‘ time is money’ ‘for people’ who ‘focus’ only on monetary rewards!!
I have seen this argument in qoura and I feel so dissapointed by this answer. Also this statement has got so many upvotes !!
Time is money , should be the mantra for all of us. When you will consider time as money , you will become so aware of how you spend our days.
Picture it. By realizing ‘Time as money ‘ , you get a bonus. The bonus is you
indirectly bolster your ability to earn.
Getting this bonus is bad or good??Tell me!! Who doesn’t want money ?
Benjamin Franklin had first said ‘Time is Money’.
This was the complete quote:
– Benjamin Franklin
Remember that Time is Money. He that can earn Ten Shillings a Day by his Labour, and goes abroad, or sits idle one half of that Day, tho’ he spends but Sixpence during his Diversion or Idleness, ought not to reckon that the only Expense; he has really spent or rather thrown away Five Shillings besides.”
Benajamin Franklin was trying to tell of us that time is finite. Life is short . Life is not as big as we think. Work and don’t sit idle. Use time.
He wanted you to realize that in order to earn money , value time. People just focus on ‘in order to earn money’ ; they don’t focus on ‘value time’.
By valuing time, you eliminate all time wasters from your life, and improving your ability to earn money is a byproduct .
